The life that is in note taking...

Well nothing much happening so far.  Projects are pretty much coming in at full swing, I'll be surprised if I actually do manage to pull off a finished artwork or two.  Making hair accessories on the side is pretty swell.  I've still got a lot of things to figure out, but it's all good.

You can see what I do while taking notes in my Communications course.

I don't know why I do this in class.  Something about repetitive shapes and such is relaxing and very distracting.  At least it makes me look a lil busier when sitting there in class...

I Bleed Black & White

Awesome. First time posting through my own account rather than the shared account. :D  I didn't know that you could set up the blog like that, but now that I've done so I'm going to take full advantage of that.

Yes, another weekly challenge entry!
I've been inspired by Dan Kim's works for sometime now. Dan Kim is the creator behind Clone.Manga  and has quite a distinct black and white style.  It's really cool, and for one I've never tried painting just the lights and shadows of an object, less likely a person.
I highly suggest reading a few of his web comics.  He goes from abstract to just random.

Hehe, I decided to make it sorta like fan art so here's Asuka in her plugsuit.  (Which reminds me that I need to actually watch EVA...)
Until next week!

Patching~

I guess the DMC fanart will have to wait a while. I guess we were a bit ambitious while starting this out. After all, we both have things to do that don't involve sitting down and doing a full piece on the computer or anything like that.

I propose that every week we should have at least one doodle and post it up on here to get our creative juices flowing. Challenges are welcome still, but maybe we'll limit it to one for every month to see how we fair. I think the problem here is that we need to get the 'creative juices' flowing once again so that these challenges don't take so much of our time. (That and school starts soon, and well there are other priorities in life...)

But soon we'll fill this blog up with awesome pictures!

So the weekly doodles can be anything! What else do you expect me do in the middle of class :p

They can be drawn on anything, scanned, photographed, or even done on the computer.
Each of us should do at least one per week. It doesn't have to be finished works of art, it's just a doodle after all. They can also be 'works in progress', or little images that reflect our daily lives.

PATCHWORK PANDA GOOOO!!

Hmn, Bacon...

Yes! First challenge done! It's interesting what comes out of these challenges because we don't really talk about what we're doing.

On to the second challenge, yes? Of course!

Challenge #2 is definitely a fanart challenge! But we're not going to do just any fanart. No we're not going to do fanart of a mainstream anime or game. I feel that we already have enough of that. The love needs to be shared right?

Anyway; DETROIT METAL CITY FANART, GO!

Everybody needs some DMC in their life <3

Electric Eggs and Ham?

Since this was the first challenge, I decided to take it easy and just use this opportunity to re-familiarize myself with my colouring style. Up until AE, I hadn't really been drawing ... at all. So, as you can imagine, I'm more than just a little rusty. Yeah ...

And there you have Nine. Rawr. (Psst, she's naked)

I tried to make it less anime-y and more portrait-y - overall, I think I'm satisfied with how it turned out. I usually prefer to do my drawings on paper first, then scan, line and colour, so it's nice to know that I can do something from scratch on the tablet and not have it turn out utter crap. I'll make a save with a better res and post to the deviantart right quick.

Okay, bring on the next challenge!

1 egg, 2 eggs, 3 eggs...

Well, well, well... The ball is slowly and steadily rolling along the path, yes... yes.

As for our first challenge was really interesting. Wanted to push myself in another direction and I guess try a new coloring technique. It looks less refined, and I guess I'm fine with that. I think there's gotta be a way to get over super polished work and have a more 'painterly' feel about to it.

Nothing more to really say. Panda is one sexy being ;D
And yes, lack of detail in the background. I don't care!

I'll post the next challenge after Panda has submitted hers. And of course, all artwork will be posted in our (to be really big) gallery: http://electricsparrows.deviantart.com/

Welcome to the Nest

Guess now is as good a time as any to get the ball rolling ...

To keep ourselves motivated, and on our toes I suggest that we give ourselves challenges. It'll keep the juices flowing, plus give us a chance to draw stuff that we normally would not.

SO!

The first challenge I propose is for us to draw portraits of eachother (lame, I know, but it's the first thing that comes to mind at the moment).

So yea, there ... drawing GO!!
